2021 Stats Wrap Up!

I love this time of year, an opportunity to look back, and stand in awe of the accomplishments and efforts that we forget to appreciate.  Here is my wrap up below.

Births in 2021: 2

Birth months in 2021: September, December

Home Births: 1

Hospital Births: 1

Virtual Births: 2

Sex assigned at birth: 2 Boys

I'd also like to acknowledge the births of friends who I did not assist in personally, but I consider to be a part of our birth network at Par Avion Doula, they entered the world this year and I would like to honor them here. Happy Birthday baby Miles and baby Opal!

Overall, Total Births Supported: 5

I wouldn't be here today, without the love and gentle wisdom of a woman who assisted in my first birth.  My midwife, Rebekah Knapp.  She passed away this year in an unexpected vehicle accident.  It may have only been a few days prior that she received a letter from me.  I think that was one of two handwritten letters I sent this year, a practice I rarely make time for.  My friend Rhonda who works with Rebekah was kind enough to mention that Rebekah had received my letter.  I am so grateful I was able to share my love and gratitude with her in that letter.  We never know what life may bring. My heart breaks for this loss.  For anyone's loss.  I will always keep her in my heart, thankful that she was able to bless my life for that brief moment.  Life is so precious, let us celebrate it every day. Let us also normalize grief, mourning and loss. I hope that I continue to be blessed to assist mothers in their birth goals in 2022.  I truly can't wait!
